Command Sergeant Major (Retired) Kenneth T. Klein

CSM Klein (R) enlisted in the active Army in 1989.  He attended basic combat training (BCT) at Fort Knox, KY, and Advanced Individual Training (AIT) at Fort Lee, VA.  Upon completion of AIT, CSM Klein was stationed at Fort Bragg NC with Company A, 1-159th AVN Regt, as a Supply Specialist.  CSM Klein served at Fort Bragg from 1990-1992, and had one deployment for Operation Desert Shield / Desert Storm.

CSM Klein left the active Army, and joined the Maryland Army National Guard where he was assigned to A Company 1-115th Infantry where he held the following positions: Rifleman, Grenadier, M249 Gunner, M60 Gunner, Team Leader, Squad Leader, and Platoon Sergeant.  CSM Klein served with A Company from 1992-2004, and had one deployment for Operation Noble Eagle.

CSM Klein began his Active Guard Reserve (AGR) tour in 2004 with the Recruiting and Retention Battalion as a production recruiter.  During his time with the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, CSM Klein has held the following positions: Production Recruiter 2004-2007, Noncommissioned Officer in Charge (NCOIC) 2008-2011, Company 1SG 2011-2013, Operations SGM 2013-2017, Recruiting and Retention CSM 2017-2019.  CSM Klein also deployed with A Company 1-175th Infantry for Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2007-2008 during his time with the Recruiting and Retention Battalion.  CSM Klein’s final assignment was as the Brigade Operations SGM with 58th Troop Command.

CSM Klein has attended all levels of the Noncommissioned Officers Education System, including the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, graduating in September 2016.  He has also completed the following: the First Sergeants Course, Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP) Cadre Course, 79T NCOIC Course, Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS) Guidance Counselor Course, 79T Advanced Noncommissioned Officer Course (ANCOC), 11B Basic Noncommissioned Officer Course (BNCOC), Primary Leadership Development Course (PLDC).

CSM Klein’s awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3OLC), Army Commendation Medal (1OLC), Army Achievement Medal (6OLC), Army Good Conduct Medal (5th award), Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal (4OLC), National Defense Service Medal (2nd award), Southwest Asia Service Medal with two bronze stars, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal (Silver Hourglass, M-Device), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (with numeral 5), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd award), Army Reserve Overseas Training Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Saudi Arabia), Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kuwait), Expert Infantryman Badge, Parachutist Badge, Master Recruiter Badge, Order of Saint Maurice – Centurion Medal.

LTC (R) Mohler is a 2004 graduate and Distinguished Military Student from Shippensburg University with a BA in Criminal Justice.  In addition, he is a 2013 graduate of Florida Institute of Technology with an MS in Logistics Management.

LTC (R) Mohler entered military service, enlisting in the United States Army in November 1996.  In November 2000, he transitioned to the Pennsylvania Army National Guard while attending college.  In December 2004, he returned to active duty, commissioned as a 2LT in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps.

As a commissioned officer, LTC Mohler has held numerous positions, including platoon leader, 1-89 Cavalry Squadron, 10th Mountain Division, Commander, 359th Inland Cargo Transfer Company, Operations Officer, 6th Transportation Battalion, Chief of Ground Mobility, 593d Expeditionary Sustainment Command, Support Operations Officer and Support Battalion Executive Officer, 16th Combat Aviation Brigade, and the Director of Logistics for the U.S. Army War College.  His combat deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation New Dawn, and Operation Freedom Sentinel.

LTC (R) Mohler's professional military education includes the Transportation Officer Basic Course, Theater Logistics Planners Program, Command and General Staff College, Mortuary Affairs Officer Course, in addition to his being recognized as a Demonstrated Logistician by the International Society of Logistics.
