Math
Advanced Placement Calculus 1 (AB) & AP Physics (Mechanics)
(This course is a co-taught course with Advanced Placement Physics therefore students must enroll in both courses.) Calculus is the study of change and motion. The course includes topics form differential and Integral Calculus. This course is designed for able math students, especially those who intend to go into the field of engineering, physics or mathematics. This course will consist of a full academic year of work in Calculus and related topics comparable to courses in college. Our goal will be to follow the Calculus syllabus as recommended by the College Board. Students who take the AP course will be prepared and are required to take the AB advanced placement Exam. A TI-83 or 84 calculator is required for this course.
Advanced Placement Calculus 2 (BC)
AP Calculus 2 (BC) is a one-semester, spring only course in the calculus of functions of a single variable. It includes all topics covered in AP Calculus 1 (AB) plus additional topics including the study of parametric equations, polar forms and vector forms, improper integrals, polynomial approximations, and series. Students taking AP Calculus 2 (BC) will be prepared and are required to take the BC Advanced Placement exam. A TI-83 or 84 calculator is required for this course.
Advanced Placement Statistics
The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the major concepts and ideas of collecting, analyzing, and drawing conclusions from data. Students are exposed to four broad conceptual themes: Exploring Data: Describing patterns and departures from patterns, Sampling and Experimentation: Planning and conducting a study, Anticipating Patterns: Exploring random phenomena using probability and simulation, and Statistical Inference: Estimating population parameters and testing hypotheses.
